2024 Expert Wrap up
A summary of what went on in 2024 in my world

So I thought I’d use this December post to run through what happened and what I was up to musically in 2024. Will do a follow up post soon about what I’ve been listening too in 2024.
So in January I set up this Substack page and have published 18 posts. In March,
& I released our debut album “BLIP”.We put a lot of work into it and are really happy with how it turned out and has been received. Here’s a snapshot of how it did on Spotify in its first week (Much more of a Bandcamp fan myself!).
Now as the end of year lists season has begun some folks have been talking about BLIP, which is nice considering it was released 9 months ago. The wonderful Dad Bod Rap Pod podcast spoke about BLIP at the start of the second part to their annual Quibble Jam wrap up:
We also seem to have appeared on a couple of end of year lists which is always nice. Really nice review here from nofrillsreviews blog who ranked BLIP #7 on their Top 50 albums of 2024 list which is lovely.
Then I released the BLIP instrumentals and we finished up the year with the release of our EP “FLIP”.
This also received some end of year list love from the good folks at indie rock mag
So that’s the wrap up of everything I released this year.
has begun the rollout of his new project “Secret Pancake'“ dropping in January 2025, so definitely worth following his Substack page and keeping in touch with that. It’s another great self produced project from him.Also it seems lots of people discovered me on various DSPs this year in particular Spotify (a platform I often struggle with tbh). In saying that, I think any “Little Wins” an artist gets should be celebrated and put on the fridge.
Half a million streams for a guy that makes pretty niche hip hop is wild to me but something to be proud about. I always say success is invisible because it’s different for each person and numbers only tell a part of the story. But if you are proud of something you did this year let me know in the comments - celebrate that shit!
2025…..
Other than that I’ve really just been working hard on completing my next album. Not going to lie, I have found this next one really challenging particularly from a project management point of view. There has been a LOT of moving parts and that side of it has been really interesting. Will definitely be telling you more about that in the coming months. I just need to finish off one and a half songs and then the album can be mixed and mastered. I’ve also started the artwork journey for it as that always takes waaaaayyyy longer than I think so trying to get a jump on that. Really excited about it and hope it will be out next year. Have also been working on a few other projects but all are still in the early stages so nothing to report on them properly just yet.
