NEW SINGLE: "Movement & Light"

So I’m delighted to say that the 3rd and final single from the album BLIP by NAHreally & The Expert is out now. It’s called “Movement & Light”, and you can stream it using the link below. Keep scrolling for more info on the track itself.

About the song:

So early on in the album’s creation NAHreally & I wrote down a list of our dream artists we’d like to collaborate with. NAHreally put down Open Mike Eagle, which we are delighted came to fruition (see last single post on “Breaking Down In Real Time”.)

I put down Hemlock Ernst as my dream collaboration for the album. After listening to all of NAHreally’s back catalogue, I just felt that their voices would be a perfect fit together. The challenge was Hemlock Ernst has a very busy day job as he is better known as Samuel T. Herring from the group Future Islands. 

Once we agreed that he would be a great feature, I began creating a beat which was really tailored for both of their voices. I wanted to ensure if we approached Hemlock that the song would really appeal to him. I began creating something quite smooth to act as a softer moment on the record. Due to this I wanted to ensure the drum programming was interesting and that the bass still banged to keep it fresh. 

NAH wrote to the instrumental a few times but none of the verses seem to fit quite perfectly or give you that goosebump feel. We even recorded a demo of what would become the song “Bubble Wrap” over it. You can here the original demo here:

Then one day NAH sent me through the demo for what would become “Movement & Light”. I was blown away and it definitely gave me the goosebump factor. Great concept, lyrics and chorus. I instantly became more confident that if Hemlock heard it he might agree to feature. 

So I got in touch with

to see if he could do an introduction with Hemlock and delighted to say it all worked out. Absolutely love the track and how they both combine on the hook in particular.

Hemlock was such a joy to work and deal with. It’s no surprise that he and his band Future Islands are so successful. Amazing talent with a great work ethic.
